During a telephone call this evening, President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, discussed the latest developments in Palestine in light of the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip.
The President stressed the urgency of putting an immediate end to the genocidal war waged against Palestinians in the Strip, underscoring the importance of accelerating the introduction of humanitarian, relief and medical assistance, preventing displacement and stopping the dangerous Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.
President Abbas expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the position of the Spanish Prime Minister in support of the just Palestinian cause, praising Spain’s efforts to support the recognition of the State of Palestine and its bid to join the United Nations as a full member.
For his part, the Prime Minister of Spain reiterated his country’s positions in support of the Palestinian people and their cause and Palestine’s efforts to attain legitimate Palestinian rights, particularly the recognition of the Palestinian state and efforts to obtain full membership in the United Nations.
He also stressed that he will continue efforts and contacts with all international and regional parties to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.
He affirmed his continued efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to the Strip, encourage more states to recognize the State of Palestine and support its efforts for full membership at the United Nations.
The Spanish premier further affirmed continued efforts for the convening of a donor conference to support the new Palestinian government and its programs aimed at supporting the Palestinian people.
