Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Mohammed Mustafa met with Germany’s Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Svenja Schulze in Ramallah, where they discussed stepping up further humanitarian relief efforts in the Gaza Strip and the need to avoid aggravating the humanitarian crisis there due to the interruption of essential services.
The meeting also tackled possible ways of joint collaboration between the two countries.
The Prime Minister stressed that the prime concern is to provide relief and humanitarian assistance and restore basic services in preparation for the reconstruction of the Strip and the gradual economic recovery of all sectors there.
He also discussed the repercussions of the Israeli aggression, including the increasing unemployment rate and massive job losses.
Mustafa praised Germany’s multi-funded initiative to support the unemployed and create new job opportunities.
He also reviewed during the meeting the government’s plans to meet the emergency relief needs and its plans for institutional reform by initiating the immediate work of ministerial committees, noting that work was underway in this regard.
They also discussed the development, promotion and restoration of educational services in the Gaza Strip.
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of working and collaborating in the field of renewable green energy and finding suitable solutions due to the limited capacity of Palestinian networks in many areas. He also stressed the need to find effective solutions for the restoration of electricity in the Gaza Strip.
The premier also stressed the importance of supporting the government to achieve its goals and cooperating to create programs to support the private sector to ensure its continuity and avoid economic collapse in Palestine.
For her part, the German Minister reiterated her country’s commitment to supporting the two-state solution and its support for the establishment and development of state institutions and the development of cooperation in Palestine to improve the living and economic conditions of the Palestinian people and create jobs to reduce the unprecedented rise in unemployment rates.
