The Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) emphasized during a meeting held tonight the importance of pressing for an end to Israel’s genocide against the Palestinian people, which has now entered its tenth month.
The meeting discussed the occupation’s continued destruction and daily killing of civilians in the Gaza Strip, in addition to its measures in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, such as the daily incursions, mass detentions and the policies of killing and liquidation of the Palestinian people, especially in refugee camps.
The meeting tackled the attacks and crimes committed by colonial groups against Palestinians, especially in towns and villages located near illegal West Bank colonies. These attacks include the killings carried out by these colonists who used weapons given to them by the Israeli government.
The meeting also discussed the occupation’s legalization of illegal colonial outposts and the seizure of approximately 12,000 dunums of West Bank land, in violation of all international legitimacy resolutions and international law, particularly UN Security Council Resolution 2334 and previous relevant resolutions, which the occupation refuses to recognize, including the resolution of the UN Security Council and General Assembly, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The committee underscored the necessity of imposing sanctions and isolating and prosecuting this ‘terrorist’ government for its escalating crimes against Palestinians.
The Executive Committee decided, in cooperation with human rights organizations, the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) and the families of detainees, to expand the campaign of pursuing those responsible for the war crimes and violations committed by the occupation against Palestinian prisoners and detainees and to bring them before the International Criminal Court.
The committee stressed that the terrorism and crimes of the occupation to which our prisoners and detainees are subjected inside the occupation cells, including the policy of torture, isolation, and killing of prisoners, especially those from the Gaza Strip, are confirmed crimes that require the intervention of all popular and international institutions; especially the UN Human Rights Council, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Arab League, humanitarian institutions and the international community. This also requires mechanisms to hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for these crimes.
The meeting also tackled the crimes committed against Palestinian prisoners and detainees, including rape, sexual harassment and forced disappearance.
The Executive Committee reaffirmed its commitment to follow up on its previous decisions regarding UNRWA, which involve confronting Israeli measures aimed at targeting the UN relief agency and defending the rights of its employees.
The Executive Committee also affirmed its commitment to fostering national unity, enhancing Palestinian resilience, and confronting the crimes of the occupation and its colonial gangs.
