Lavrov: Our Patience Will Run Out if Constantly Tested
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented on Kyiv’s repeated targeting of Russian territory using long-range Western missiles, emphasizing that Russia’s patience would certainly run out if continuously tested.
In a statement to journalist Pavel Zarubin, broadcast on Russia’s Channel One, Lavrov responded to Ukrainian attacks deep into Russian territory using long-range Western missiles, including American “ATACMS”: “We (in Russia) have many popular sayings (for example)… Measure seven times, cut once… The Lord was patient and commanded us to be patient.”He added, “Patience is necessary, but if it is tested endlessly, it will surely run out.”
Lavrov continued, “There is another proverb that Western officials should keep in mind in this
situation: ‘The Russian man takes a long time to saddle his horse, but once he does, he rides fast.'”
Last week,
the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that Ukrainian forces had launched strikes using
American and British-made missiles against targets in the Russian regions of Bryansk and Kursk.
Russia has emphasized that allowing Ukrainian forces to use Western missiles to strike deep into
Russian territory would change the nature of the conflict, implying direct NATO involvement in
the Ukrainian conflict.
In response to these Western-made missile attacks against targets in Russia, Russian forces
struck the “Yugmash” factory in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro with a new hypersonic “Orionik”
missile on November 21, completely destroying it.
Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the West that no air defense systems in the world are
capable of intercepting this missile, which is ten times faster than the speed of sound, and that
Moscow would strike military sites in countries using their weapons against Russia.
He affirmed that the Russian military operation in Ukraine would continue until all its objectives
are fully achieved, and that any Western weaponry or support would not alter the course of the
battle or halt the ongoing advance of the Russian army on all fronts.
