Israeli Soldier Escapes Brazil Amid War Crimes Allegations
An Israeli soldier, who was vacationing in Brazil, managed to flee the country after an investigation was opened regarding his alleged involvement in war crimes in Gaza.
According to the Israeli newspaper “Yedioth Ahronoth,” the soldier was enjoying his holiday with friends in Brazil. A friend’s father told the newspaper, “There were five of them on the trip. They stayed on Morro Island, where many Israelis settle.”
He added that the soldier and his friends “were enjoying a peaceful vacation until they received a phone call informing them of an arrest warrant against the soldier, prompting his urgent departure.”
The father continued, “The friends decided not to leave him alone, and they accompanied him across the border to another country.” He noted, “The last conversation with our son was at 5 AM. He told us they had crossed the border into another country and that everything was fine.”
Meanwhile, the soldier’s father, whose identity has not been disclosed, said, “The important thing is that he is no longer in Brazil. He has left and we are waiting for his return to Israel.”
The Brazilian police had initiated an investigation against the Israeli soldier following a complaint
by “Handa Rajab Foundation,” named after a Palestinian girl killed in Gaza. The foundation
pursues legal actions against Israeli soldiers accused of “war crimes in Palestine.”
The complaint alleges that the Israeli soldier was part of a broad campaign constituting “genocide
and crimes against humanity” under international law.
