Joint Russian-Syrian Military Exercises in Aleppo Province
The Russian Defense Ministry has announced the successful completion of joint military exercises between Russian and Syrian forces in Aleppo province. These maneuvers included the participation of Su-35 fighter jets, as well as Su-24 and Su-34 bombers, focusing on striking simulated enemy ground targets and fortifications.
In the first phase of the exercises, as detailed in Saturday’s statement from the ministry, Russian Su-24 and Su-34 bomber crews practiced attacking ground targets at Jabbul Training Field in Aleppo with highly destructive FAB-250 bombs. The bombings were executed from altitudes ranging between 600 to 3,300 meters, with Su-35 jets providing air cover for these bombers.
Subsequent stages involved Russian Ka-52 and Mi-8AMTSh-V helicopters, alongside Syrian Mi-25 helicopters, all departing from Kuweires Military Airport. The statement further elaborated:
Joint Russian-Syrian Military Exercises in Aleppo Province
“Both countries’ pilots destroyed simulated enemy ground targets with S-8 rockets and practiced flying at ultra-low altitudes of 30 meters, which requires high piloting skills.”
Additionally, Russian helicopter crews trained in searching for and destroying cruise missiles. The exercises concluded with a joint nighttime airstrike, coordinating between land and air units.
These joint training sessions have significantly boosted the level of cooperation and coordination between Russian and Syrian pilots, enhancing the effectiveness of their air forces in executing combat missions within Syria.
This collaboration not only demonstrates the strengthening military ties between Russia and Syria but also underscores their commitment to maintaining regional stability through military preparedness.
