Medvedev Sets One of the Conditions for Settlement in Ukraine
Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, has outlined one of the conditions for resolving the conflict in Ukraine: the Western sanctions imposed on Russia must be lifted.
Medvedev pointed out that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine benefits the United States, which has significantly increased its LNG exports to Europe due to the sanctions on Russia.
He elaborated on his Telegram channel:
“The United States is gleefully investing in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This year, their oil exports to Europe have more than doubled (+101%, equating to an additional 37.3 million tons). Liquefied natural gas has surged by 181%, with 18.5 million tons. The profit the U.S. gains from this is impressive. Ultimately, Europe, facing a raw material shortage due to anti-Russia sanctions, is compelled to accept these terms. Ending the Russian-Ukrainian conflict could undermine the position of U.S. LNG in Europe (one of our conditions – lifting the sanctions).”
Medvedev also criticized Kyiv’s proposal to open access to Ukraine’s natural resources, particularly in regions that have decided to join Russia, calling it a reward for the United States. He noted that these areas possess mineral reserves several times larger than those under Kyiv’s control.
Previously, Mykhailo Podolyak, an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, revealed elements of Ukraine’s “Victory Plan” tailored specifically for Donald Trump. He stated:
“We have rare mineral deposits like lithium and titanium, which can be explored and extracted together, and we offer high military readiness, which could serve as a partial substitute for American units in several regions, especially in Europe.”
