A “Free Feast” Behind the Deadly Incident at the Umayyad Mosque
Several sources have revealed that a massive luncheon organized by a Syrian content creator was behind the catastrophic stampede that resulted in the death of four people within the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus.
The Syrian Civil Defense announced on Friday the death of three individuals and numerous injuries in a stampede incident at the Umayyad Mosque in the Syrian capital, Damascus. The Civil Defense confirmed that the incident led to the death of four women and injured 16 others, including children, with severe fractures and bruises, alongside several cases of fainting.
The incident coincided with a significant crowd gathering for an event organized by civilians inside the mosque.
Chef Abu Omar’s Feast
Multiple sources indicate that “Chef Abu Omar,” whose real name is Mohand Al-Baghdadi,
organized a charitable feast in the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus. The absence of coordination
and organization led to a massive rush among attendees, resulting in deaths and injuries. Chef
Abu Omar, known on social media platforms, particularly TikTok where he has over a million
followers, had previously announced his preparations for the feast, inviting Syrians to join and
partake in the meal.
Social media activists have criticized Abu Omar, accusing him of focusing on fame and publicity
without considering the precise organization required for such an event.
