The Turkish president says his country will make efforts to rebuild hospitals, schools and other damaged infrastructure in Gaza if a ceasefire is achieved there, local media has reported. “If a ceasefire is reached, we will do whatever is necessary to compensate for the destruction caused by Israel,” Erdogan told reporters on his plane returning from a trip to Berlin, where he held talks with German leaders. “We will make efforts to rebuild the damaged infrastructure in Gaza and rebuild the destroyed schools, hospitals, water and energy facilities,” Erdogan was quoted as saying by broadcaster A Haber. Ismail al-Thawabta, Gaza’s government media office, says a number of those who were forced to evacuate the al-Shifa hospital were in such critical condition that they might not make it to the next medical facility. “All are going to die simply because they require swift medical attention,” al-Thawabta told Al Jazeera.
