Jordan’s King Abdullah has rejected any plans for Israel to occupy Gaza or create security zones within the enclave, state media reported. Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, expressed deep concern for the continuing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza during a call with EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell, the Saudi Press Agency said Sunday. Prince Faisal stressed the importance for the international community to assume its role in stopping Israeli attacks and the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip that constitute a flagrant violation of the international humanitarian law. The Israeli occupation forces detained today more than 50 Palestinians from throughout the occupied territories, including former prisoners, and a wounded person, in addition to nine Gazans detained in Hebron, according to the Prisoners’ Commission and the Prisoner’s Society.
