MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. The Moscow City Court upheld the 4.6 bln ruble ($49.36 mln) fine against Google for systematically failing to delete misleading information about Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, as well as information illegal in the country, the court’s press service told TASS.
“The Moscow City Court upheld the decision of the Tagansky District Court of Moscow imposing an administrative penalty in the form of a fine against Google LLC in the amount of 4,611,738,636 rubles, and the applicant’s appeal was not satisfied,” the court representative said.
This was the third fine levied on the corporation by Russia for failing to delete unlawful and inaccurate content. Google was fined 7.2 bln rubles ($77.82 mln) in December 2021, followed by 21.07 bln rubles ($227.72 mln) in July 2022.
